City of Clinton, Iowa Building and
Neighborhood Services Inspector
The City of Clinton is seeking applicants for the position of a Building and
Neighborhood Services Inspector. Performs construction inspections of new and
existing residential, commercial and industrial structures to ensure compliance
with codes and ordinances adopted by the City of Clinton. Work includes
inspecting projects and materials, preparing daily reports, and coordinating
departmental activities with contractors and homeowners. Performs code
enforcement through issuance of warning notices, stop work orders and correction
notices, administers fines for violations, and performs related work as
required. Will work under the general direction of the Building and Neighborhood
Services Director and Assistant Director. May exercise supervision over
part-time, temporary or other staff as assigned. It is desired that the
applicant possesses a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.)
and two (2) years of either construction or building inspection experience; or
an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully
perform the essential duties of the job as listed above. Salary range $30,276 -
$42,388. This position is subject to drug

Official
Full-time position. The base pay is $20.05 per hour and full benefit package
applies. High School Diploma or GED, plus two years of specialized
training in building methods & practices related to commercial, industrial &

workshops or university studies; and eight years of responsible experience

The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office is seeking a Building/Manufactured Housing
Inspector in Western Iowa. Responsibilities will include enforcement of the Iowa
State Building Code through the inspection of commercial buildings and
manufactured homes. The position requires an understanding of residential and
commercial construction and the physical ability to maneuver within buildings
during construction. In addition, the ability to read and interpret construction
blueprints and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of

Building Inspections Supervisor Starting

Progressive, rapidly growing western suburban Chicago community located directly
south of Aurora, seeks experienced candidates for Building Inspections
Supervisor. With an estimated population of 16,103, the Village of Montgomery
is forecasted to reach 25,000 over the next decade. Montgomery is searching for
a proven leader with exceptional communication skills to manage the Building
Division and report directly to the Director of Community Development.
This professional, technical and supervisory position is responsible for the
enforcement of Village building and zoning codes and ordinances. Work involves
ensuring that all structures and buildings meet applicable health, fire and
safety codes within the Village limits as well as responsibility for the
administration, review and record keeping of all plans and records pertaining to
construction within the Village. This position oversees the operations and
supervision of the Building Division and its employees (Two full-time
inspectors, one full-time clerk, and a contractual Plumbing Inspector. A
part-time code enforcement officer may also be supervised.)
An associate’s degree from an accredited two-year college or university with
major course work in Fire Science, Structural Engineering, Construction
Engineering, Architecture or other similar technical or related field required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Candidates should possess 6-to-10 years experience
doing extensive field inspection work as a municipal building and zoning
inspector including industrial, commercial and residential plan review;
supervisory experience required; or an equivalent combination of training and
experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
The successful candidate will be certified as an International Building Code
(IBC) Plans Examiner and Building Inspector and have thorough knowledge of the
IBC, International Residential Code, National Electric Code and other applicable
codes, ability to read and understand construction plans and blueprints, ability
to interpret data and explain Village codes and applicable ordinances and the
ability to express ideas orally and in writing.

Job Description: This Executive Officer 1 (EO 1)
functions as a program manager for the plumber and mechanical contractor
licensing board. This position is the lead staff person within Public Health
who is responsible for developing a project plan for the creation of the
licensing board. The EO 1 coordinates the day-to-day operations of the board
and IDPH staff responsible for carrying out the board activities. Also drafts
legislative language, administrative rules, and policies and procedures for

board and makes needed changes to the overall plan, goals, objectives, and
